The APPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information.
A copy of the Australian Privacy Principles may be obtained from the website of The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at https://www.oaic.gov.au/.

2. What is Personal Information
Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable — whether or not it is true, and whether or not it is recorded in a material form.
Sensitive information is a subset of personal information given extra protection under the Privacy Act. It includes information about a person's health, disability, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, sexual orientation, and criminal record.
3. What Personal Information We Collect
3.1 Account information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your name or chosen display name
- Your email address
- Your password (stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never see or store it in readable form)
- Your postcode or suburb, if you choose to provide it
- Your profile photo, if you choose to upload one
If you sign up using Apple, Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email address and account identifier from that provider. We do not receive your password.
3.2 Child profile information
You may optionally create one or more child profiles so we can tailor venue recommendations. If you do, we collect:
- A first name or nickname for the child (a nickname is sufficient — we recommend not using a full legal name)
- The child's age or age range
- Optional accessibility or mobility needs, if you choose to record them
Child profile information is used only to filter and rank venue results in your app. It is not used for marketing, is not disclosed to venues, and is not shared with third parties other than necessary infrastructure providers.
3.3 Location information
Location is central to how the Service works. With your permission, we collect:
- Precise location ("while using the app" only), to show venues near you, provide directions, and improve search relevance.
- Approximate location, derived from your IP address, where you have not granted precise location permission.
We do not collect your location while the app is closed or in the background. You can grant, refuse, or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. We retain individual location queries for no longer than 30 days, after which they are deleted or aggregated.
3.4 Content you contribute
If you submit a review, rating, photo, accessibility report, venue listing or correction, we collect that content along with your display name and submission date. Publicly submitted reviews and venue reports are visible to all users of the Service. Do not include personal information about yourself or your child in public contributions.
3.5 Saved and usage information
- Venues you save, favourite, or add to lists
- Searches you run and filters you apply
- Venues you view and interactions within the app
3.6 Device and technical information
Collected automatically when you use the Service: device type, OS version, app version, IP address, push notification tokens, crash reports, error logs, and cookies.
3.7 Communications & 3.8 Transactions
If you contact us for support, respond to a survey, or report an issue, we collect your message and response. Payment transactions (if applicable) are processed securely by third-party payment providers — we do not collect or store full credit card numbers.
4. Sensitive Information
We do not seek to collect sensitive information, with one exception: if you choose to record a child's disability, mobility requirements or accessibility needs in a child profile, or include health/accessibility details in a venue report, that is health information and sensitive information under the Privacy Act.
We collect this only with your consent (given when entering it) and use it solely to filter venue results or inform other users via published accessibility reports. You can delete this information at any time from within the app.
5. How We Collect Personal Information
We collect personal information directly from you when you register, use the app, or contact us; automatically as you browse; and from third-party sign-in providers (e.g. Apple, Google). Venue information (opening hours, pram access, change tables) is business data, not personal information.
6. Anonymity and Pseudonymity
You may browse venues without creating an account. You may also use a pseudonym or display name for your account and for public content. We do not require your legal name unless verifying identity for access/correction requests.
7. Why We Use Personal Information
- Providing venue search, filters, and personalised recommendations
- Creating and managing your user account
- Publishing your reviews, ratings, and venue contributions
- Responding to customer support requests and sending essential service alerts
- Sending opt-in marketing updates (you can opt out anytime)
- Improving app performance, safety, moderation, and legal compliance
8. Cookies, Analytics and Tracking
Our websites use cookies for authentication, session security, settings memory, and analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking for advertising purposes. You can disable non-essential cookies via browser settings or device privacy controls.
9. Children and Young People
Pram About Town is designed for parents and carers. Accounts are available only to persons aged 18 and over. Information regarding a child is collected solely from the account holder via child profiles, used only for venue filtering, never for marketing or AI training, and deleted immediately when the profile or account is removed.
10. Direct Marketing
We send marketing emails only if you have opted in. Every marketing message includes a functional unsubscribe link. We action opt-out requests within 5 business days. We do not sell personal information or share it with data brokers.
11. Who We Disclose Personal Information To
We disclose personal information to contracted service providers (cloud infrastructure, database hosting, mapping APIs), public users (for public reviews/photos), venue operators (for venue feedback reports without exposing location/email), law enforcement where required by law, or corporate acquirers in business sales.
12. Overseas Disclosure
Some of our infrastructure service providers store or process data outside Australia. We take reasonable steps under APP 8 (including contractual data security standards) to ensure overseas recipients handle your information securely and consistently with Australian Privacy Principles.
13. Automated Decision-Making
We use automated algorithms strictly to sort and recommend nearby venues. These recommendation engines do not affect your legal rights or privileges. We do not use your personal information, content, or child profiles to train AI or machine learning models.
14. Security
We protect personal information through encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, salted password hashing, role-based access controls, multi-factor authentication for administrative tools, and continuous logging.
15. Data Breaches
We maintain an active Data Breach Response Plan. If an eligible data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with Part IIIC of the Privacy Act.
16. How Long We Keep Information, and Deletion
Account data is kept for the life of your account. Location queries are deleted or aggregated after 30 days. Crash logs are retained for 90 days. Support tickets are retained for 24 months. Transaction records are kept for 7 years under tax laws. You can delete your account at any time via Settings > Account in the app or by emailing info@pramabouttown.com.au. Account deletion removes profiles, saved lists, and location history within 30 days.
17. Accessing and Correcting Your Information
You have the right to request access to and correction of personal information we hold about you. Self-service data profile tools are available in the app under Settings > Account. For formal requests, contact our Privacy Officer. We respond within 30 days without charging access request fees.
18. Third-Party Sites and Venues
The Service contains links to external venue websites, booking platforms, and map providers. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices and encourage you to review their respective policies.
19. Complaints and Contact

20. Users Outside Australia
The Service is intended for use in Australia. If you access it from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in Australia and the other countries listed in Section 12.
21. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on our website and in the app under Settings > Legal.
If we make a material change — for example, collecting a new category of information, or disclosing information to a new category of recipient — we will notify you by email or in-app notice before the change takes effect.
